How the T67B Vane Pump Works
The Basic Operating Principle
A vane pump generates flow using a rotor with sliding vanes that ride inside an elliptical (or double-lobed) cam ring. As the rotor spins, centrifugal force and, in balanced designs, hydraulic pressure push the vanes outward against the cam ring's inner surface. This creates expanding and contracting chambers between adjacent vanes.
On the intake side, the expanding chamber pulls fluid in from the reservoir.
As the rotor continues turning, the chamber contracts against the cam profile, forcing fluid out through the discharge port at system pressure.
Because the T67B uses a balanced cartridge design, the cam ring has two lobes rather than one. This means each vane experiences two pumping cycles per revolution, and — critically — the pressure loads on opposite sides of the rotor cancel each other out.
